How I Got Tons of Free Baby Goodies!

So I have been taking advantage of all the free baby samples certain stores have to offer. Having a baby can be very expensive especially if you have a 9 year gap between kids. We have to start all over. We are having to buy everything from the crib to the changing table to the burp clothes and swaddles! We have to start from scratch! So, my husband and I have been preparing since we found out we had a little bundle on the way. We have been finding deals at stores like Costco or taking advantage of “the scratchers” at our loca Navy Exchange (NEX) store where we can save an extra 5-50% depending on the scratcher. We’ve been piling up on diapers and bought the travel system using a scratcher which I think gave us 5% off! It doesn’t seem like much, but anything helps!

When I was 4 months along, I had to purchase maternity jeans because wearing regular jeans was starting to get uncomfortable. So I went to my local outlet mall and walked into Motherhood Maternity. I bought 4 tops, 4 bottoms for $200! I personally think that’s a steal. For an extra $20, I signed up for the new parent package which included 1 year subscription to magazines like: InStyle, Parents, Home and Garden, People, and a few others. I personally love reading magazines so I thought it was a steal. The package also included $50-60 coupons for many stores. I have taken advanced most of the stores and only had to pay for shipping. I’ve bought a couple pair of baby shoes, a nursing cover, custom nursing pads, a car seat cover, and a few other baby goodies I can’t recall. The best part is that I only had to pay for shipping! It was a great deal! Another perk of the package is that it put me on the mailing list for Similac and I received 3 cans of baby formula with 4 – $5.00 coupons to buy Similac formula. I’ve also continued to receive those coupons in the mail. I am planning on exclusively breastfeeding but you never know. Every baby is different.

I’ve used other resources to find free goodies. Amazon offered a free new baby welcome basket which included free samples of diapers, wipes, baby bottles, a swaddle, baby lotion, and baby shampoo. All I had to do was start my baby registry, share it, and have at least 1 person buy from the registry (thank you Ashley!) So I started my registry and my beautiful, wonderful little sister shared it on social media. I am currently away from family because we live in Maryland and all my family lives in California. So unfortunately, I am not having a baby shower for this baby. But, clever one that my sister is, she created an event on Facebook and invited our family. And her best friend from like -forever- bought the first item from the registry. So that qualified me for my baby box! I was so happy to receive it because there are so many new products out there and this box included samples of some of them. Like, Honest brand, wow their diapers are soooo soft and eco friendly! I had always been a Pampers mom, but I’m thinking I might make the change to Honest.

I’m still looking for other freebies as the countdown for new baby continues. Only 2 months to go! Being a stay at home mom for the first time in YEARS (one I come household), has been a little tough. We have had to re-learning how to budget and spend our money. But, we are slowly starting to manage it. We are going to have to re-learn again after baby arrives and plan for diapers, new clothes every few months, etc. Plus, we have two kiddos who are still growing. One who is about 6 years away from starting college and one who is 10 years away. So we have to financially plan for their college education too. All will fall into place!

If any of you know of any freebies, drop it in the comments. I’d love to hear some of your ideas.
