The end to another chapter

The end to another chapter means, the start of a new one

For those of you who don’t know, my husband is starting medical school in the fall. So what does this mean for us as a family? We will be relocating yet again! Yay – the life of a military family! I really don’t mind at all. I love living in new cities and getting to know different people. Immersing myself in different cultures is the best way to learn about people.

Our chapter in NYC will soon come to an end. So much has happened in the last month. My husband graduated from Columbia University’s Masters in Public Health program (pictured below at graduation). He was also commissioned as a US Naval Officer. His commissioning in ceremony was held at Battery Park (pictured below). A lot has happened with me as well, I resigned from my position in the financial industry so that I may prepare my family for our upcoming move which means looking for new homes and their corresponding school districts. I have to narrow down the schools and decide if the price range is within our financial comfort zone but also nice enough (I’m very picky). I have to analyze if the specific neighborhood will have a potential real estate value growth within the next 5 years which is probably when we will be relocating again. When we bought our house in San Diego, this is exactly what we looked for and we made a very smart, financially strategic decision to buy the house that we bought. We actually just sold that house and earned a good amount of money in equity alone. I always think that if your investments aren’t making you money, they are a liability and need to be re-evaluated.
