New York Fashion Week Feb 2018 is here!

Rain or shine, New York Fashion Week 2018 is here! This season’s talent is very eclectic with vibrant looks that will have every woman and man wanting more. Featuring designers from all over the world, those of us who attend have front row seats to the future of fashion. The range of different designers bring great looks and take it back old school. One designer brought pieces whose looks remind me of Living Single days while another designer brought looks out that reminded me of pieces the cast of Clueless would wear in their every day life. While most looks don’t look exactly like fashion statements from the past, they were able to captivate the essence from the past and brought it back with a tweak! Designers, Coco and Ilia, stood out to me the most. They grabbed my attention with sparkles and soft colors. One of their pieces was truly breathtaking! It was a pair of light denim bell bottom jeans with rhinestones running down the jeans in various locations. So many beautiful looks this season, I cannot wait to see how they inject these looks into the mainstream market!

While these looks inspire a throwback style, as a 33 year old woman it is hard for me to integrate some of these looks into my every day wardrobe without looking like I’m an older woman desperately trying to hold on to my youth. So instead of directly incorporating these pieces into my closet, I will first analyze the color scheme, cut & silhouette, patterns, and fabric that designers are using this season. Once I have a firm analysis, I will shop at my favorite stores (Ann Taylor, Loft, Macy’s NYC – 8 floors of wonder – and Lord & Taylor) and look for staple pieces that have the essence of the “in look” this season.
